A Day at the Museum and other fun :-)

The trip last Tuesday to the Field Museum was a bust archeologically speaking. There was nothing on display specifically from the Reserve, Mimbres or Cliff Dwellings. I have email addresses though and will continue to bug them to someday see some of our treasures! Ruth and I had a great time, though. It was a very gloomy day so the photos are not great, but I took photos of some of the best dioramas and bronze busts at the museum.

Also below are some photos of Heather doing an early Halloween fashion show, the project I helped Jaye with, Zuni loving life at Heather & Darren's home, etc. Last night I spent a nice evening visiting with Bob and Alva before they move to Alabama. I'm off to do some shopping and spending time with Mom and Ross today, too. Enjoy!

A segue tour which resulted in a spate of googling. Did you know the inventor of the segue was killed in 2010 when his prototype all-terrain segue veered off a cliff in England?

Ruth googling all kinds of stuff on the train!

Late October - a confused crab apple tree at the lakefront.

Seagull accidentally adorned with blue tape :-(

Jaye and I worked on her home project - new, beautiful, shiny backsplash!

Home in Illinois October 2013

Well, here I am back at Blogspot and back in Illinois for a 3 week visit. Halfway to returning to Big Bend and thought I'd catch up on some photos. Even though most of the National Parks are still shut down, I heard from Jorge in Law Enforcement at Big Bend and he said to come in, park our RVs and wait it out. That is very generous because I wasn't sure what I would do when I returned to El Paso/Las Cruces.

I may be a very sporadic blogger in the future but I'll try to find fun stuff to keep friends & family (& me!) entertained when we look back on my travels!

Borrowed from a friend, Wendy - her "beauty shot" of the Gila Wilderness.

One of my last mornings at the Gila we had a big 5-minute rain shower which resulted in this lovely double rainbow!

Kathy Heisey took these two photos of me and Petey the Packrat doing my Cliff Dwellings tour. Petey always stole the show!

The debris carpet of the flash flood.

One last grasshopper!

Borrowed from Wendy - a rhinoceros beetle. They can be really huge and fearsome looking!
I made a trip to the Dells and met up with Mel, a friend from Big Bend hikes. Took a great tour of the Lower Dells, went ziplining for the first time and hiked Devil's Lake State Park. What great hiking to get up to the zip line starting point and then the rocky slopes of Devil's Lake!

First Flight! (Or is that "first fright"??)

Victory!

Yesterday (Sunday, October 13) my great friend, Jaye, had a lovely open house so all my girlfriends could spend some time together. What a fantastic, generous thing to do! We had a wonderful time just visiting:
